• While the [sun-]disk becomes dim, while the mountains shine with colour,
• while the group of bees spreads on the blossoms [and] fills itself, on the height,
• while the group of herons sound in the seashore grove of mangroves,
• while the crabs that play on the shore crowd in [their] holes,
• while the wave cease to sing, while the boats forget [their] task,
• while the Aṉṟil, uniting with [its] mate so that redness appears(?),
• joins the inner stems of the palmyras in the dunes,
• while the blossoms in the backwaters hide [their] fragrant mouths,
• while night falls, the daylight being gently spent,
• taking the gold colour of the fragrant Puṉṉai blossoms
• by the house with [its] the grove, what will become of myself,
• --- who has been longing for knowledge of the man without love,
• who made [me] suffer so that my heart becomes soft,
• at midnight when demons roam, when the old bird with broken mouth
• that stays in the old tree without leaving, shrieks in quick succesion(?)?
