- The man from a ghat,
- where the big fish, maddened when struck by the hook thrown
- by the fishermen keen on killing, with [their] short-eaved huts,
- moves as the sky-adorning rainbow,
- so that the fish-reeking sea is changed by the blood shooting forth from [its] wound,
- strength failing, ravaging the depth dense with waves of green spray,
- [and] sets out for the boats in rows,
- he was one to praise unendingly,
- appreciating the beauty of the big ghat by the seashore grove
- of our village, at the time he came here,
- remembering our bamboo shoulders in the night of many days.
- Now,
- we have heard [him] saying many [times], friend,
- denying [us] sleep on his graceful chest,
- that going [is] difficult,
- when the fast chariot is obstructed by the hanging Kaitai branches.
