• The eyes, as the opposition of [two] proud kayal fish,
• frightened, when the sound-discerning dogs of the house bark,
• when the beloved daughter of the saltmerchants with hastening staffs,
• who go through the hills clefted by the sun,[FNote_52]
• announcing the price for the salt in white lumps,
• made without ploughing the field in the dark backwaters
• by the fishermen in [their] small hamlets, on hunt in the great sea,
• proclaims the exchange by a price[FNote_53] in the streets:
• "salt in white lumps against[FNote_54] rice!",
• throwing [her arms] so that the bright bangles in several rows(?)[FNote_55] sound,
• - they became pain[FNote_56] to us, who sigh hotly,
• suffering as the bulls yoked by the hand
• of [her] father that drag, to end the trouble,
• the cart sunk into the dark old mire,
• resembling the shadow of smoke from the farmer persevering on the dry-fields.
