- when the beloved daughter of the saltmerchants with hastening staffs,

- announcing the price for the salt in white lumps,
- made without ploughing the field in the dark backwaters
- by the fishermen in [their] small hamlets, on hunt in the great sea,
- proclaims the exchange by a price[FNote_53] in the streets:
- "salt in white lumps against[FNote_54] rice!",
- throwing [her arms] so that the bright bangles in several rows(?)[FNote_55] sound,
- - they became pain[FNote_56] to us, who sigh hotly,
- suffering as the bulls yoked by the hand
- of [her] father that drag, to end the trouble,
- the cart sunk into the dark old mire,
- resembling the shadow of smoke from the farmer persevering on the dry-fields.
