Note: after visiting Āvaṭutuṟai, Nāvukkaracar came to Paḻaiyāṟai but it was hidden by amaṇar; Navukkaracar took a vow to fast until he visited the Lord in the temple; the Lord informed the rule of the country some signs about the existence of the temple. He came there and annihilated the amaṇar. The King built a vimāṉam and made endowments for worship; Nāvukkaracar worshipped the Lord in this shrine.

the low people of camaṇar who pull out all the hairs on their heads.
உள் நிலையினால் மறைத்தால்
if they hide by their hostile minds.
மறைக்க ஒண்ணுமே
is it possible to hide?
அலையின் ஆர் பொழில் ஆறை வடதளி நிலையினான் அடியே நினைந்து உய்ம்மினே
(People of the world!) save yourselves by fixing your thoughts on the feet of the Lord who is eternal in Āṟai Vaṭataḷi which has plenty of water by the side.

there will be no suffering that cannot be removed for those who visit the beautiful Āṟai Vaṭataḷi which was converted into his temple by Civaṉ, by completely destroying the groups of amaṇar who were carrying in their hands ascetic's pitcher.

my hands saved themselves by worshipping Civaṉ, with joined hands.
குண்டரைக் குணம் இல்லரைக் கூறை இல் மிண்டரைத் துரந்த விமலன் தனை
the spotless one who drove out the amaṇar who are low, who have no good qualities and the ignorant people who are naked.

and the one who is famous by his neck and who dwells in paḻaiyāṟai vaṭataḷi.

முடையரைத் தலை முண்டிக்கும் மொட்டரைக் கடையாரைக் கடிந்தார்
Civaṉ who removed those from whose bodies bad odour is issuing, who shave their heads completely and therefore have the appearance of a bald head and who are low.
கனல் வெண்மழுப் படையரை
who has a white battle-axe and fire.
பழையாறை வடதளி உடையரைக் குளிர்ந்து உள்கும்
my mind will warmly think of Civaṉ who has paḻaiyāṟai vaṭataḷi as his abode.

ஒள்ளரிக் கண்ணார் முன் அமண் நின்று உண்ணும் கள்ளரைக் கடிந்த கருப்பூறலை
the god who is as sweet as the juice of the sugar-cane, and who defested the thieves who eat standing naked in the presence of ladies who has lines on the white of their eyes.
1. அள்ளல் அம் புனல் ஆறை வடதளி வள்ளலைப் புகழத்துயர் வாடும்
if one praises the munificient Civaṉ in āṟai vaṭataḷi which has water and fertile soil of mire, his suffering will perish.

நீதியைக் கெட நின்று அமணே உணும் சாதியைக் கெடுமா செய்த சங்கரன் - ஆதியைப் பழையாறை வடதளிச் சோதியைத் தொழுவார் துயர் தீருமே
if one worships the light in paḻaiyāṟai vaṭataḷi, who is the pre-eminent one and has the name of caṇkaraṉ and who destroyed the people who eat naked to destroy the code of morality, his sufferings will cease to exist.

திரட்டு இரைக் கவளம் திணிக்கும் சமண்பிரட்டரைப் பிரித்த பெருமான் தனை
the great god who separated me from the camaṇar who have strayed away from virtue and who Cram themselves with mouthfuls of food which have been made into the form of balls.
(இரை is a word used to denote the food of beasts and birds.)
உணவு
is the word used for denote the food of human beings;

அருள் திறத்து அணி ஆறை வடதளித் தெருட்டரைத் தொழத் தீவினை தீருமே
all the evil Karmams with leave one if he worships Civaṉ who clarifies the mind and who dwells in āṟai vaṭataḷi which is made beautiful by his grace.

இனத்து ஓது எழுத்து அஞ்சு உணராச் சமண் வேதினைப் படுத்தானை
Civaṉ who made the camaṇar who could not understand the mantiram of five letters (pañcakkaram) which is recited by the groups of devotees, to suffer.
வெங்கூற்று உதை பாதனை
who kicked with his foot the cruel god of death.
பழையாறை வடதளி நாதனைத் தொழ நம் வினை நாசமே
our Karmams will perish if we worship the master in paḻaiyāṟai vaṭataḷi.

வாய் இருந்தமிழே படித்து ஆள் உறா ஆயிரம் சமணும் அழிவு ஆக்கினான்
Civaṉ who destroyed all the thousand camaṇar who did not become the serfs of god ever after studying works in Tamiḻ which have the greatness of causing one to follow the path of piety.

வாழ்த்த வாயும் நினைக்க மட நெஞ்சும், தாழ்த்தச் சென்னியும் தந்த தலைவனை (appar, taṉittirukkuṟuntōkai, 7, general)]]
பாய் இரும் புனல் ஆறை வடதளி மேயவன் என வல்வினை வீடுமே
the irresistible Karmams will perish if we say Civaṉ who dwells in āṟai vaṭataḷi which has flowing water in plenty.

செருத்தனைச் செயும் சேண் அரக்கன் உடல் எருத்து இற விரலால் இறை ஊன்றிய அருத்தனை
Civaṉ who is our wealth, and who slightly pressed with his toe (the mountain) in order to crush the nape and other parts of the body of the ārakkaṉ whose fame has spread far and who indulged in warfare.
பழையாறை வடதளித் திருத்தனைத் தொழுவார் வினை தேயுமே
the Karmams of those who worship the holy god in paḻaiyāṟai vaṭataḷi will dimunish gradually.
