[[Tirumālaimāṟṟu: prosody these are called embellishments of words which is a kind of verse that remains identical when its letters are read in the reverse direction. Yapparuṇkaḷam names them as muṟaikkavi, ie: `laboured poetry'; such verses were composed by Ñāṉacampantar when he was staying in Cīkāḻi after being visited by Tirunāvukkaracu; cf. periyapurāṇam (tiruñāṉacampantar purāṇam, 273-277);

{$} யாம் ஆமா
if we say we are god will it be proper?
நீ ஆம் ஆம்
if we say you are god' it will be doubly proper.
மாயாழீ
one who plays on the big vīṇai, called pēriyāḻ!
காமா
one who has great exquisite beauty desired by all.
காண் நாகா
one who adorned himself with cobras for people to know that cruel things also will become good if they join Civaṉ.
காணாகாமா
you destroyed Kāmaṉ so that his body could not be seen.
காழீயா
one who dwells in Kāḻi.
மாமாயா
you are also Māl who is the husband of Tirumakaḷ

மாமாயா நீ
deliver us from the impurities of the soul beginning with māyā which is black in colour.

{$} யாகா
one who has sacrifices as his form.
யாழீ
one who can play on the yāḻ.
காயா
one who assumes a body when coming to grant grace to devotees (This is derived from காயம் meaning body).
காதா
one who performs the act of destroying everything (காதுதல்-கொல்லுதல்)
யார் ஆர்
for all people
ஆதாய் ஆயாய்
one who is the mother who gave birth to them.
ஆயாதார் ஆர் ஆயா
one who wears the garland of common mountain ebony a thing which is beyond research.
தாக ஆயா
one who has a circle of ladies (the wives of the sages of tārukāvaṉam) who fell in love with you. (தாக ஆயா has become தாகாயா like குளாம்பல், மராடி, குள+அம்பல், மர+அடி)
காழீயா
one who is in Kāḻi.
யாகா
save us from all kinds of sufferings.

{$} தாவா மூவா
one who is always young without end and ageing
தாசா
one who can be reached by the ten spiritual experiences. (The ten spiritual experiences are (1) tattuvarūpam, (2) tattuvataricaṉam, (3) tattuvacutti (4) āṉma rūpam (5) āṉmataricaṉam (6) āṉmacutti (7) Civarūpam (8) Civataricaṉam, (9) Civayōkam (10) Civapōkam.)
காழீ நாதா
the Lord of Kāḻi.
நீயாமா
one who dances in the night in which every one is afraid to move about, and avoids it.
மா
one who is great!
மாயாநீ
one who rides on the elephant, ayirāvaṇam. (யாநம் vehivle)
தா நாழி (தான+ஆழி)
one who can be compared to the ocean in the matter of gifts.
சாகா
save us from death.
காசா
one who has the lustre of precious stones.
தா
grant us all boons we ask.
வா
condescend to appear before me.
மூவாதா
one who is in the form of air and other elements which came into existence before all other created things.

{$} நீவாவாயா
you are the truth that never changes.
கா யாழீ
one who has holds a vīṇai in the hand.
வான் நோவாராமே காவா (காவாய்)
condescend to come to us to save us from the cruel suffering of birth.
வான் நோவா வா(று) மேரா
one who converted the mountain mēru into a bow so that the celestials may not suffer from the acurar of the three cities (மேரு+அண்-மேரன்; in the nominative of address it became மேரா)
காழீயா
one who dwells in Kāḻi.
காயா
one who has the form of the sky (காயா-ஆகாயா; the first letter is dropped)

you come quickly to us. (வாவா repetition of a word to denote quickness)

{$} யாகாலா
one who is in the form of time for all things.
மேயா
one who pervades everything like the oil in the sesame seeds
மேதாவீ
you are the person of supreme intelligence
தாய்ஆவீ
you are mother and life of all living being.
வீயாதா
one who does not know destruction.
வீமேயாழீ
one who plays on the yāḻ to attract the birds like Kiṉṉaram (Kiṉṉāram a mythological bird endowed with knowledge of music)
யாம் மேல் ஆகு ஆயா கா
protect us from further breaking our heads that may happen to us.

{$} மேலே போகாமே தேழீ
one who frightened with a wrathful voice so that the god of death might not so near (mārkaṇteyaṉ to snatch his life).
காலாலே கால் ஆனாயே
you became the god of death even to the god of death by your legs.
ஏல் நால்ஆகி ஆல் ஏலா
one who set under the banyan tree to the four sages namely caṉakar and others and was their preceptor (The four sages are: caṉakar, caṉantaṉar, caṉātaṉar, caṉatkumārar)
காழீதே
god who is in Kāḻi.
மேகா
one who rode upon the cloud which form tirumāl assumed (in the distant past).
போலேமே
Did we not praise that tirumāl to be counted as one among your retinue?

{$} நீயா மாநீ (னீ)
one who has Umai who is always with you.
ஏயா மாதா
you are the mother who has no equal.
ஏழீ
you who are in the form of the seven musical notes
காநீதானே
you come voluntarily and protect me
நேதாநீ
you have as your place the minds where there is love towards you.
காழீவேதா
one who is in the form of vētam in Kāḻi.
மாய் ஆநீ மாயாயே நீ
will you not destroy the sufferings that kill us? (ஆநீ-ஹாநி)
மானீ
one who has looks like the deer's looks
மாநீ
one who holds a deer (There is no difference between ந and ன in speech so one is used for the other)

{$} நே அணவர், ஆ, விழ, யா, அசைஇழியே
one who unties the rope of desires which bird the souls of your devotees which are compared to the cows and which keep them in subjection and make them lose their independance.
நேணவர் = நே+அணவர், யாசை ழியே = யா, அசை, இழியே) வேக (1) அதள் ஏரி
one who appears beautiful by wearing the skin of a deer which can run fast. (ஏரி-ஏர்+இ; who has beauty)
அளாய உழிகா
when sufferings surround us protect us from them.
(2) காழி உளாய்
one who is in Kāḻi.
அரு, இளவு, ஏது, அகவே
Let our mistakes be pardoned as they were done by our low nature (ஏது-ஏதம்; அம் is dropped இளவு low nature; cf. words like இளப்பம், இளந்தலை இளக்காரம் அஃகவே has become ஆகவே, the āytam being dropped)
யாழ ஏழிசை இராவணனே
irāvanaṉ too was fit to receive your grace after played on the yāḻ of seven notes. (The grace that forgave the great disdemeanour of Irāvaṇaṉ will certainly pardon the small errors committed by our baseness)

you are air that pervades everywhere.

you create illusion for all things (மால் illusion)

one who had the strength of mind to prevent those two from seeing your feet and head.
காழீ
one who is in Kāḻi.
காண்
cast on us your benign looks.
கால் ஈ
give your feet (as our refuge)

save us.

{$} வேரி(உம்) ஏண் நவம் காழியொயே
one who is in Kāḻi which has fragrance, greatness and the nature of every being new.
ஏனை நீள் நேம் அடுஅள் ஓகரதே
it is the business of yōkis only to destroy sufferings and carrying off devotion in large quantities.
தேரகளோடு அமணேநினைஏய்ஒழி
completely remove from us remembering the moral instruction of the tēvar and amaṇar and keeping company with them.
காவணமே உரிவே
it is your right to save us from treading the dangerous path of those two people.

{$} நேர் அகழ்ஆம் இதய ஆசுஅழி
one who is able to destroy the three impurities of the mind namely attachment, anger and spiritual ignorance, which completely uproots justness (அழீ has become அழி)
தாய் ஏல் நன் நீயே
you are the only person who can be fittingly called the mother for all the worlds.
நல் நீள்
one who becomes great in doing good.
ஆய்உழி கா
save us when we become enfeebled.
தமிழ் ஆகரன்
composed by me who is the embodiment of Tamiḻ, ñāṉacampantaṉ.
காழிஉளாளின் நையே
the verses which melt the hearts of listeners and which are about the god in Kāḻi.
நினையே-தாழ்(வு) இசையா
you would not be degraded if you sing them with intention. (There is no other meaning except that is published in the edition of the Dharmapuram mutt. So I have translated that as it is found there)
