TRANSLATION
- On account of the good acts performed by us
in addition to may good turns in previous births (4)
- so as to be removed from the clandestine union (1),
- which we had with desire (2)
- at the sea-shore grove (2)
- with talaivan (1)
- although it was said that even if we stayed
outside the limits of the house it would give rise to public gossip (2),
- when our chief of the maritime tract (19)
- which has shore of many tuṟais
(துறை: ghat) (18),
- having crossed the narrow backwater
which has dark water (18)
- in that expanse of fine mire (17),
- to form impressions like a channel (16),
- in the white sand resembling milk collected by the wind (15),
- by the swift gait of the strong legs
which speed up like the speed of arrows (14),
- of the strong chariot to which are harnessed
galloping swiftly like water flowing into (13)

as the intelligent charioteer drives them (12),

Ancient tamiḻar valued white horses
to the exclusion of other coloured ones

they are Cālikottiram, uṉṉayam,
and work by the sun-god which is mentioned in Kallāṭam;
""வெடிவாற் பைங்கட் குறு நரி இனத்தினை,
ஏழ் இடம் தோன்றி இனன் நூற்கு இயைந்து வீதிபோகி வால் உளைப் புரவி,
