TRANSLATION
- Talaivi who has a beautiful forehead (3)
- and tresses of hair which are as fragrant as the forest in imayam (இமயம்) (2)
- having becoming black by being smeared with aromatic unguent
and adorned with flowers growing on the tops of trees and bushes (1) !
- our talaivar has gone beyond crossing the mountain which has broad adjacent hills (18)
- and peaks where the joints of bamboos having split (17)
- and rocks which have lost their beauty due to the sun's scorching heat (16),
- in the forest where the young marai (மரை: a kind of deer: indian elk) which is chewing the cud (15)
- after eating the green fruits of nelli (நெல்லி) (emblic myrobalam) of many bunches (14)
- which have the appearance of the flawless marble (13)
- and listens attentively (15)
- the clear sound indicating solitude coming from the small sweet flute made of bamboo (12),
