TRANSLATION
- Friend ! May you flourish ! (5)
- our talaivar who crossed the forests in the sides of the mountains of burning peaks (15)
- where the big bamboos of waving twigs make a rattling sound (14)
- in the hill having dry-farms where ñemai tree (ஞெமைமரம்) of perfect trunks grow (13),
- where the travellers in the difficult curam, hear with rapt attention the distressed voice
which decreases in volume and stops having become feeble (11),
- with which the beautiful stag of forked horns like the branches of dried-up trees (8)
- which, having run, desirous of water mistaking the mirage that glitters like water (9)
- with a perturbed mind due to loneliness (10)
- calls its female that is grazing (11),
- in the ways where shade has completely vanished as the fire has consumed the vegetation with great desire (7)
- in the extensive waterless space where the scorching rays of the sun have destroyed moisture, if he returns (4)
- now to rid us of the distress of shedding tears (4)
- from the cool, and big eyes filled with tears which seem to be at strife with each other (3)
- which resemble the big and black (2)
