• You desired and accepted the words of the chief of the hilly tract superior to other mountains (13),
• having groves that never know drying up (12)
• where the female monkey of black fingers which plunged into the mountain stream, (9)

பிறர் உறு விழுமம்

- the suffering that other undergo.

பிறரும் நோப

- though they are strangers good people will feel it as their own and try to remove it;

தம் உறு விழுமம் தமக்கோ தஞ்சம்

- the suffering that they themselves undergo they will not think it to be big and take it lightly. (This is the nature of great souls)

கடம்பு கொடி யாத்து

- having tied the flag in the Kaṭampu (கடம்பு) tree.

கண்ணிசூட்டி having adorned with garlands.

வேறு பல் குரல ஒரு தூக்கு இன் இயம்

- to the accompaniment of sweet instruments tuned to a particular musical note of many different sounds played to measure of time.

காடு கெழு நெடுவேள் பாடு கொளைக்கு ஏற்ப

- to be suited to the songs sung in praise of the tall Vēḷ having the forest as his abode

அணங்கு அயர் வியன் களம் பொலிய

- to make the arena in which veṟi dance is performed, shine

பையைத்தூங்குதல் புரிந்தனர்

- desired to perform the dance

ஆங்கு அவற்கு அறியக் கூறல் வேண்டும்

- you must tell talaivaṉ when you see him to make him understand that.

அருவி பாய்ந்த கருவிரல் மந்தி

the female monkey of black fingers which plunged into the mountain stream.

செழுங்கோள் பலவின் பழம்

- the fruit of the jack tree which bears fruits abundantly.

புணையாக

- using it as a float.

சாரல் பேரூர் முன்துறை இழிதரும்

- gets down from it in the tuṟai (துறை: ghat) of the village situated in the adjacent hill

வறன் உறல் அறியாச் சோலை விறல் மலை நாடன் சொல் நயந்தோய்

you who desired and consented to the words of the chief of the victorious hilly tract which has groves that never know drought.

As it is the nature of great souls to sympathize with other's suffering and not mind their own suffering, the friend said, that if talaivaṉ knew our suffering he would try to remove it as quickly as possible.

காடு Here it is used to denote mountain tract, called Kuruñci.

Here தோழி means talaivi, as both of them used to address each other as friend !
