(4-5) Friend questioning wisdom of talaivaṉ's coming at night when the mountain streams are swollen with floods.

(7-10) If talaivaṉ comes by day he can scare parrots along with talaivi

NOTES

Sometimes the elephant narrowly escapes being killed by the tiger; that is mentioned in line 1-2.

As the sable clouds has unburdened their water they are called white clouds

அணந்து - raising its trunk upwards. As the elephants can kill people on the watching platform who drive them away by throwing stones at them with slings the shed is built on a raised place which could not be reached even if the elephants stretch their trunks their utmost length

கூந்தல் மெல்லணை
""மகளிர், விரிமென் கூந்தல் மெல்லணை வதிந்து'' (patiṟṟuppattu 58- 18-19);

களிறு - is used in the sense of mere elephant as it is followed by the word ஒருத்தல் meaning male.
