ஓருயிர்மாக்களும் புலம்புவர். This denotes the severity of the north wind.
துன்பம்: born of talaivaṉ parting without grace துன்பம்: affliction born of north wind.
The music of the flute makes to burn externally the fire of distress
in the mind of talaivi who feels lonely on account of talaivaṉ's separation;
over and above that the cowherds do not realise it and play upon the flute as if it was a play for them;
it is a poetical convention that the music played on flute aggravates the distress of the people separated from their lovers :
""அழல்போலும் மாலைக்குத் தூதாகி ஆயன், குழல்போலும் கொல்லும்படை'' (Kuṟal, 1228);
