TRANSLATION
- Friend (1) !
- without even fearing that the words our talaivar spoke in our village (2)
- daily (1)
- to remove our fear will become false (3),
- he has gone beyond the rocks, (12)
- leaving to us the noisy scandal which is like the sound produced when the drum is beaten (13)
- That rock was cut and a way was made for the wheels of bright spokes to move swiftly (11)
- in the big mountain covered with snow and touching the sky (10),
- for the invasion (9)
- of the mōriyar (8)
- to conquer the countries in the south (9),
- by the vaṭukar of stubborn opposition who went in advance (8)
- (of mōriyar), who had strong bows on which were tied (5)
- the feathers cast off by the young peacock of slender nature (4)

அச்சு - is a contracted form of அச்சம்
The words that talaivaṉ told talaivi daily are "I won't part from you; if I do that, I shall be committing sinful acts".
The adverbial participle அஞ்சாது - will go with சென்றனர்
- in line 12.
கனைகுரல் is the sound produced when an arrow is discharged from the bow
māmūlaṉar himself has refered to mōriyar in akam 251, ll.12-14
Another poet umaṭṭūr kiḻār paraṅkoṟṟaṉār has also referred to mōriyar in akam 69, ll :
10-12. This incident is mentioned in puṟam, 175, ll.6-8. It is not clear to what historical event it refers.
பறை அறைந்தன்ன அலர்: This means scandal that spreads everywhere like the sound of the drum
which is beaten for announcing anything.
Tiruvaḷḷuvar compares low people to பறை; ""அறை பறை அன்னர் கயவர்'' (குறள்.1078).
