கானலம் பெருந்துறை........அலமரும்:
These lines hint that it is impossible to enjoy at the same place where the talaivi met talaivaṉ at daytime. Therefore talaivi suffers without sleep.

சேலலொடு.......நும் ஊர் உள்ளுதிர்....
These lines hint that the talaivaṉ should dispel the distress of talaivi even by coming at night but he does not do so. Therefore talaivi could not meet talaivaṉ both in the day and night and the only possible solution to this is to get married without delay; that is the way to enjoy pleasure without separation.

பேடை உயங்கும் கங்கலும் நும் உள்ளூர் உள்ளுதிர்: By this the friend hinted that talaivaṉ is always bent upon returning home without any consideration for talaivi's suffering and therefore he was cruel.

Kaḻumalam is a place in Cēra country and it should not be confused with cīrkāḻi in Tanjavur Dt., whose another name is Kaḻumalam; this Kaḻumalam is mentioned in Kaḷavaḻināṟpatu, stanza 36.
