NOTES

அறியாய் is used in the affirmative sense.

காமம் - means physical contact, காதல் means love c

Civanaṉa muṉivar has adopted the reading கூறி instead of கூறுதி in line (7) and he takes கூறி as a verb in the optative mood.

When the friend who acceded to the request of talaivaṉ told talaivi that it was a good thing to have had physical contact with talaivaṉ, and asked to think deeply about it, talaivai did not even hint her approval; so the friend said that she got a blemish which had no truth and there was none except herself who had no friendship and sense of modesty, using strong words. This was meant to persuade talaivi to accede to her request.

இன்னுயிரன்னி நின்னொடும்: means that the relationship between talaivi and her friend was too sacred. Thereby the friend hinted that it was no fault not to have consulted talaivi.

Inner meaning :- The ruler of the mountainous country where the fragrance of east indian kino tree and wild jasmine removes the stench of the fighting place made red by blood, hints that talaivaṉ will completely to rites and soon become a house-holder.
