"தோழி(8)! தண்பதக்காலை(6) நம் காதலர் வரினும் வாராராயினும்(7) ஆண்டு அவர்க்கு(7) இனிது கொல என்று கூறித்(8) "தன்கண் சிவப்ப(9) அருந்துயர் உடையன் நின் தலைவி! என்று(10) வாணன் தூது வந்தனன்(11); வலவ(13)! வினையும் முடிந்தன்று(14); நீயும் தேர் வல்விரைந்து(12) ஊர்மதி(13).

பறவை refers to the bat which leaves its abode in the evening at dusk in search of margosa fruits and other fruits; this is supported by the following lines in Kuṟuntokai, verse 352
""நெருநீர் ஆம்பல் அடைப் புறத்தன்ன, கொடுமென் இறைய வன்னாகிர்ப்பறவை, அகலிலைப் பலவின் சாரல் முன்னிப், பகலுறை முதுமரம் புலம்பப் போகும், சிறுபுன் மாலை''
and aiṅkuṟuniṟu. 339-1-4; ""அம்ம வாழி தோழி சிறியிலைக், குறுஞ்சினை வேம்பின் நறும் பழம் உணீ இய, வாவல் உகக்கும் மாலையும், இன்று கொல் காதலர் சென்ற நாட்டே''

That kind of bat is called பழந்தின்னி வௌவால்: It means bats which feeds on fruits.
