NOTES

Translation:

முனியாது நல்குவர் is a hint at the friend who is spoken as a stranger in the third person.

""அவர் நட்பின் இனியர்; முனியாது நல்குவர்'' These words can be taken as the friend praising talaivaṉ's qualities.

Mirage is called in Tamil as "ப்த்தேர்'

தாஅம் is a corruption of the Samskrit word "தாகம்'. This word is used in Kalittokai verse 12, line 5 and in a verse quoted in Yāpparunkalavirutti
""தா அம்படு நர்க்குத்தண்ணீருள் கொல்லோ'' (Bhavānantar edition p.383

புலம் can be taken to mean some other place. :
