TRANSLATION
- Friend ! May you live long ! Please listen to what I say (1)
- The sable clouds which drew the sea-water having poured down, start their journey towards the mountains (5)
- having disliked raining after having made the earth which yields many products, soft (4).
- They again rise above like sponge, stay in the sky and rain scattered showers (6)
- The white species of gloriosa superba flowers of beautiful petals, raised by the northern wind (7),
- blossom out, losing their twisted state like the flame in the hollow earthern lamp (8);
- the big flowers of leather berried birdweed which bloom out from the sprilling buds (9)
- adorn the green bush like the stars that adorn the sky (10);
- the crabs hide themselves in the holes in the earth (11);
- the big and thick stemmed flowers of the sugar-cane which shoot from the cane and blossom out (12)
- in the broad fields (11)
- having become wet like the cranes which have become drenched and wet in the rain become wet and bent (13)
- The ill-natured northern wind which blows in conjunction with dew (15)
- creates fear with great and severe anger (14),
- makes us pine with sorrow in the evening which is difficult to distinguish
whether it is day or night, as our husband who does not care to enquire,
``What became of her whose former beauty has been lost and who became thin (18-19)
- with the sallow colour which neighbours can easily see and which stays in the forehead (17),
- '' will he not think of us as he has set his heart on acquiring wealth ? (1-2)
- or, though he may think of us, has he forgotten us as he had too much work on hand (2-3)?
