NOTES

The swans which fly low but fast near ponds are compared to the horses which seem to gallop without touching the ground; when the point of similarity is the speed; or they may be compared to the white colour of the horses; then the point of similarity is the colour.

There is a variant reading about the author's name in some manuscripts it is found as Kāḻārkkīraṉ eyiṟṟiyār

pēyaṉar is the author of mullai in ainkuṟunūṟu. This is more correct as he is clever in describing mullai.
