TRANSLATION
- Friend ! Do not weep so that your broad breasts become wet, as the flood of tears which have become full in your cool and confused eyes, flows down.
- In the hot summer when the elephant has become thin on account of loss of its flesh as the clouds are fleeting having deserted to rain, in order to pour down in fertile places (4),
- in the big land which has become charred as fire has consumed with great avidity all things there (3).
- Utiyaṉ cēral (8)
- possessing a valourous cavalry and physical strength enough not to flee from the battle-field showing his back to the enemies, offered large quantities of rice in order to propitiate the manes of his ancestors (8)
- of undying fame who had attained heaven.
When utiyaṉ cēral offered large quantities of rice the group of devil (பேய்ச்சுற்றம்) had gathered there to eat them (10)
- Our (talaivar) though he has gone beyond the desert (2)
- where the high and low hills are in every place, (11)
- like the groups of devils (பேய்கள்), he will not stay there long (14)
- forgetting the sweet sleep that he will enjoy on the bed of your dark tresses which can be worn in five different styles (15),
- as he had very a strong will for acquiring wealth (14)
- having become bewildered in mind (13)
