Companion ! May you live long ! (10)
Our lover who possesses a keen sense of modesty and who decided to earn good fame (4)
thought that the twin objects of humbling the pride of enemies (1)
and rendering monetary help to those who approach him when they are in difficulty (1-2),
are not possible for people who stay at home idling their time and lead an easy going life, (3)
he slept on your tresses on which petals of flowers are adorned (15)
and on which swift flying bees hum, (14)
you who can be compared to Kūṭal of eminence sung by poets which belongs (13)
to Pacumpūṇ Pāṇtiyaṉ who has a white umbrella rising high in the sky (12),
and undying fame, who vanquished his enemies (11)
who came to fight with him (10),
will return (10)
as his heart melts (9)
thinking of the sleep though he has gone beyond that hot desert (9)
in the forest. It has high heaps which contain hairy heads of people (6)
who were killed and made to fall down by the arrows discharged from the cruel bows of hunters (5-6)
and these heaps of stone are crowded in every barren uncultivable ground on which grows spurge and therefore they make people who venture to go there tremble, and desist from going there (8)

In line 11.செல்லா நல்லிசை may be taken as meaning good fame which is reluctant to go to others.

In line 14 the word can be split either as முச்சி or உச்சி; both mean the same thing.
