Listen to what I say (1)
As eḻiṉi failed to be present (10)
at the catching of herds of male elephants with their calves and female ones, (9)
which were driven into a pit, (9)
matti went to eḻiṉi's country at the command of his very wrathful king, coḻaṉ (11)
and caught him in the vanguard of the army, in a very distant country (12)
Eḻiṉi who had no education was killed (13)
and his teeth were removed and fixed (13)
on the strong doors of the gateway of veṇmaṇi (14)
and established a memorial in commemoration of the victory (15)
our talaivar departed from us to make us weep (17)
and has left behind a big scandal to stay with us, (17)
which is as noisy as the noise of the water that dashes against that cool ghat (15).
In the veṅkaṭam which has a cool garden, (7)
whenever the strong male elephant which has tusks of great strength (4),
and strong legs which have broard and round feet like that of a drum, (2)
rubs against (4)
the common cadamba () tree (2)
the many flowers resembling scattered white plaster (1-2)
drop and spread like the cool hailstones falling with rain from the clouds (5)
and dry on the rocks like the seeds of white paddy (6)
of the farmers (5)
Though our talaivar has gone to a country beyond that vēṅkaṭam (7)
where a difficult language is spoken (8)
(he will return soon) and bestow his grace upon us (8)

தோழி! கேளாய(1); அலர் நமக்கு ஒழிய(17) (நாம்) அழப்பிரிந்தோர்(17) வேங்கடத்து உம்பர்(7) மொழி பெயர் தேஎத்தராயினும்(8) நல்குவர்(8).
