TRANSLATION
- Though the women of evil tongues who are fond of publicly indulging in scandal
about love intrigues of others and who talk privately among themselves about it (3)
- came to me [and] told me (5)
- on many days (4)
- `your daughter is of such and such a nature' (4)
- `Let the mother know for herself (2)
- whether she approves it or is against it' (1)
- I did not reveal it to her (5)
- but concealed it, completely My daughter thought (9),
- `If mother came to know about it, (8)
- life at this place (8)
- would not be easy for me' (9)
- So she eloped with a youth (10)
- who was wearing warrior's anklets (9)
- and had a long lance which glittered like lightning (10),

- and went beyond the difficult desert which has many hills (10),

- To prove beyond any shadow of doubt that I do not disapprove of her love, (11-2)

- Let me become the housewife in the house (18)
- which is surrounded by chaste tree which waves in the breeze and which has fresh sprouts of leaves (17)
- I must make them stay in the dwelling place (16)
- by receiving them and entertaining them as guests (16)

- which is situated in the big mountain which is devoid of any splendour (15).
