TRANSLATION
- Lord of the expanse of sea where conches are grazing (7)!
- Our native place has such charms that will make one
forget one's own place (6)
- the next day (5)
- even if he resides there for a single day (5)
- because of the pleasures it affords him (4);
- though it has dwelling-places, not pleasant (4)
- and so small that it cannot even be called a village (3)
- It is surrounded by water (3)
- It is a hamlet where the stench of flesh is offensive (2)
- and has huts thatched with grass, (2)
- and is in a street where there is much sand shining
as white as moonlight (1)
- Please visit our place and return to your place (7)
- We will praise your many good qualities
in a place where trees have grown tall (9)
- and where the roaring waves of beautiful
appearance dash and break quickly (8)
- you shall spend the day in our company, (10)
- and when night sets in (10)
- you can return to your place
in your good chariots harnessing the horses (11).
- If you do not do so (11)
- and stay at night in our places
and then go to your place (12)
- we who are low shall entertain you
according to our humble capacity (13)
- Will that agree to your idea (14)?
- Please tell us (14).
