TRANSLATION
- My mind (17) !
- We thought several times whether we should give vent (1)
- to the longing (காமம்) concealed in us (2)
- or not (1),
- and at the end came to the conclusion that we openly beg talaivi by so many sweet words, (3)
- as we could not keep it under control (2).
- She also desired intensely our words (2)
- (and came out of her house) concealing her in the heavy downpour of rain (4)
- at midnight (5).
- She came with her tresses having the fragrance peculiar to the rainy season workmanship (6)
- and which was sticking to her body as it was drenched in rain (6)
- She came like a young peacock surrounded by forming clouds in the mountain (7)
- She was adorned with cool flowers to be followed by bees, (8)
- wore tightly her beautiful anklets (10)
- which are hollow and have many sections in the shape of a bow, (9)
- without making sound; (10)
- came with fear (10)
- in the midnight when the whole village was in sound sleep (11),
- she embraced us and returned home (11)
- She is a not girl of this world, (13)
- who has a pre-eminence born of her excellent chastity (12),
