TRANSLATION
- People say (5)
- that the own mother (2)
- paints the outside of the beautiful compound wall of her house with a solution o f red earth (3)
- spreads sand in the front yard of the house, and suspends garland (5)
- and adorns the house, filled with joy thinking, `My young daughter with big shoulders who crossed the difficult path in the desert (1)
- would return with the chief of the desert tract who has a perfect lance (2)
- Though he may not show compassion on me (7)
- with due respect out of love towards me who is the mother of the girl (7)
- whose looks are like the looks of the female deer (6)
- I too have to my credit (8)
- bringing up her on many days, who has teeth with a sweet smile, (8)
- I rendered help to her in a large measure (10)
- by combing her hair and tying it up in a knot, (9)
- and had her seated on my hip (9)
- If he realises that it would be good (11)
- It is my wish (11).
- Vēla (வேல)! You are endowed with the knowledge of what wil happen in future (14),
- who holds a bending stick of many ends (13)
- on which are hung many small bags (13),
- a big crown of the head which is covered by a cloth (12)!
- You tell me with certainty the result of your divination by counting molucca beans (15).
- Will he bring my daughter first to my hose (18)
- so that our eyes which have been weeping and shedding tears at night without stopping may sleep soundly (17)!
