• (My mind)! The high-way robbers require only the cross-roads in the big forest (1)
• and do not depend upon rain for their livelihood (2)
• They use their bows as plough and earn their-livelihood (2).
• They start for their business with their kin and they get a hunt which they consider as a lucky day (3)
• The blood flows from the dead bodies of way-farers (4)
• The kite has a red mouth as it drank the blood (4)
• It has a white neck which seems if it was painted like that, (5)
• and red ears which appears as if they were made and fixed on its head (6)
• While it feeds hastily (9)
• its young ones (8)
• in the nest on the high branch of the forked branch (8)
• of yā (யாமரம்) trees of tall trunk which has grown on the hillock (7),
• the piece of flesh, rich in fat, of the eyes of killed people slips from the beak of the young one (9)
• and it serves as food to the old fox which had been hungry for many days (10)
• in the desert region (11).
• That desert is very easy for us to travel (11)
• (Though it is like that) I am unwilling to give up the sweet sleep I get lying on the big shoulders (14)
• of the young lady who has teeth like the root of a peacock's feather (13)
• speaks sweet words (12)
• and unostentationous gentleness of many kinds (12),
• and who lives in the beautiful house (11).

(நெஞ்சே)! சுரன் நமக்கு எரியமன்(10); ஆயினும், இளையோள்(13) பெருந்தோள் இன் துயில் கைவிடுகலென்(14).
