TRANSLATION
- Big group of clouds which has drawn water from the big sea ! (1)
- You become dark and rise clock-wise in the high sky and surround the world (2);
- you thunder like the war drum with a leather blanket (3)
- you have the collections of lightnings (7)
- close to each other (6)
- shining like the swords drawn out from the scabbard
and brandished in battle by the valorous warriors who oppose their oppenents in the rare wars of (5)
- kings who know their duty impartial (4)
- and who do not fail from the path of virtue (4)
- and whose reign is ... (3)
- Do you make all this noise daily without any useful purpose ? (7-8)
- the daughter of the inhabitants of the hilly tract (குறவர்) (13)
- adorns herself with a garland full of flowers of East indian kino tree (9)
- which blossom like gold (8),
- she walks with beauty (10)
- in the company of her shining circle of female attendants (10);
- she brandishes taḻal (தழல்) and strikes against a log of wood [taṭṭai] (தட்டை) to scare away birds (11);
- she wears a garment made of the beautiful leaves of indian mast tree which are as red as the flames of fire (12).
- Will you shower at least a little amount of your water in the place where millet grows and over which she keeps guard (13-14)
