• In the forest region the flowers of white bedaly emitic nut tree (பிடவுமரம்) blossom and spread their fragrance (7)

• The beautiful stag with twisted horns makes the arabian jasmine flowers to gather on one side by blowing its breath, (10)
• and, having drunk the clear water (11),
• rests with its beautiful female of spotted skin in that forest (12).
• There the farmers who wear a forked stick on their heads remove the weeds (13)
• and consume liquor in a large measure and as a result of it feel merry (14).
• At sunset when the sky is red (16),
• the red and descending sun's rays having become mild (15),
• you returned when the string of bells in the beautiful chariot (17)
• produces simultaneously a loud sound (18)
• resembling the sound of streams that fall from rocks (17).
• You returned and stand before us (19)
• with an eminent mind born out of having finished the difficult tast (5),
• leaving behind the forest with blossomed flowers on which bees swarm and hum (6)

• not only to the lady with good qualities (3)
• who has an eminence and fame, having giving birth to a son (2),
• who will make the family illustrious and famous (1),

சீர்மிகு குருசில்(19)! செக்கர் வானம் சென்ற பொழுதில்(19) நற்றேர்(17) மணி இயம்பக்(18) கானம் பிற்படச்(6) செம்மல் உள்ளமொடு(5) நீவந்து நின்றது(19) நன்னராட்டிக்கு அன்றியும்(3) எனக்கும்(3) இனிது ஆகின்று(4); (அதனால்) நின் ஆயுள் சிறக்க(4).

  The better reading to be adopted is கோடுடைத்தலையர். It is mentioned in stanzas 34 : 3-4, 194: 6-7 in this same anthology. For the reading கோடுடைக்கையர் the meaning is people who have a weeding hook in their hands. The thorns of spurge are compared to the horns of bullock which is used for ploughing the fields. This simile is found in puṟam, 322: 1-2). கடவுட்கற்பு may also be taken as chastity like that of aruntati.
