TRANSLATION
- My mind ! (7)
- The whole of the day was almost spent pleasantly (4-5)

so as to touch the sky (4),
- in the bed spread and adorned with flowers,
and which is beautiful with exquisite workmanshiip (3),
- with the lady of black
(மாமை) complexion
who wears on her waist mēkalai
containing strings of emeralds (2);
- which is comparable to crystal quartz
and which has beauty of various kinds (1).
- The inhabitants of the forest region
have abandoned their habitations (10)
- being afraid of the severe enmity
of warriors who have bent bows (9)
- and arrows inflicting pain (8),
- who killed the caravan of merchants
who happened to travel that way (8) and (7)
- and robbed them of their marchandise,
and that place is without any fertility (10).
- In the extensive old barren land
the sponge gourd (பீர்க்கு)
has grown (10).
- The cross-beams resting upon the brick wall (13)
- which have become weak (12)
- fall down (3)
- as the back side of the neck
of the elephant which rises high from its back, (12)
- which has a big trunk with which it eats the horse radish
muruṅkai which grows there, (11)
- rubs against them (12).
- As a result of it the spotted small dove
leaves the storey from which all wooden parts have fallen (14)
- The god also abandons the beautiful form
which was painted with colours and has lost its beauty (15)
- In the ugly looking pial (16)
- which is not cleansed with cow-dung water (16)

daily without fail have been stopped since a long time! (16).
- The bitch which recently gave birth
to pups stays in the small house
which has worn-out places (17)
- Shall we, who have eyes that know no sleep
on account of loneliness, have to stay tomorrow
in the common assembly hall which has eaven
in good condition, but whose covering of thatched roof
is eaten away by the white ants which have sharp mouth
resembling the pointed end of lance
and which have spread over the rafters
fixed to that place, to destroy them ?
