• I am besides myself with distress that may cause death (6)

• and suffer on account of that (5).
• At the end of the decreasing rainfall at the end of autumn after the clouds had a heavy downpour (2),
• gathering themselves in the sky with thunders, (1)
• to make different kinds of flowers to fade (1),
• I am alone (3)
• I am thinking of talaivar who parted from me to increase the hatred of my mind (3)
• and the few bangles that remained have also slipped off from my hands, when I thought of him (4)
• The chill northern wind which makes even the hill to shiver with cold (9)
• at midnight in the season when dew falls during the early part of night and when lotus flowers become scorched (charred) (8)
• by the drops of dew which fall to cover the ground and which resembles the sound of the elephant's sigh after drinking water (7)!
• You seem as if you have come to inflict pain on me only (10)!
• You go to that country to which the merciless talaivar has gone (12),
• to make his stony heart to melt, and allow pity to enter into it
• like the mound of minute sand which is washed away by being in the place where water flows (12),
• with the same nature without (10-13)
• becoming weary and tired (12)
• If so the talaivar whose longing in acquiring wealth is very great, may perhaps be reminded of me, and return (14)

தாழ் பெயற் கடை நாள்(2) சென்றோர் உள்ளி(4) எவ்வமொடு(6) (இருத்தலின்) அளியள் என்னாது(6) குளிர் கெரன்வாடை! எனக்கே வந்தனை போறி(10); கொடியோர் சென்ற தே எத்துச்(12) சென்மதி(13)! வினைவிதுப்புறுநர் உள்ளலும் உண்டு(14).
