• (Chief)! We are afraid of the scandal if you come by day, followed by strong dogs, yourself resembling murukaṉ (முருகன்) who frequents the village (பாக்கம்) in the mountain of small hamlets where in the streets (4-6)
• (the men) adorned themselves with the bunches of flowers of east indian kino tree which are fragrant with honey (2),
• growing in the slopes of the high mountain which has shining white streamlets making sound (1).
• They dance together with their womenfolk keeping rhythmic paces to the measurement of time by the drum called toṇṭakam (தொண்டகம்). (3)

(தலைவி)! சிறுகுடிப்பாக்கத்து(4), இயல் முருகு ஒப்பினை(5) பகல்வரின் கவ்வை அஞ்சுதும்(6); அடுபுலி வழங்கும் ஆர் இருள் நடு நாள்(9) தனியை வருதல் அதனினும் அஞ்சுதும்(10); இவள் ஏனல் கிளி கடி பாடலும் ஒழிந்தனள்(13); என் ஆகுவன் கொல்(11)? அளியன் நின் அளி அலது இவள்(14).
