• Charioteer well versed in the work dealing with horses ! (8)
• Our talaivi will be talking to her companion in the following manner :- `ella, (எல்லா) companion! Listen to what I say (1)
• In the cool and fragrant sylvan region, many flowers have fallen down mixed together like many small flowers that have been strewn in the place where veṟi (வெறி) was performed by vēlaṉ (வேலன்) (1-3)
• Even in the evening of short duration which brings us sorrow, (6)
• when the sun whose scorching rays have become mellow and descends in the western mountain and disappears slowly like the moon which is swallowed by the serpent (during eclipse), (4-5)
• our talaivar may not remember us and so talking, will be disliking us mentally (6)
• "Drive thither the chariot (8)
• to which proud horses which are adorned with golden saddle are yoked (16),
• so that she may be rid of the distress that make her to dislike us (7)
• We shall see the lady who has much greatness as a goddess (15),
• big shoulders like bamboos, cool and self-conceiting eyes on which lines are spread (14),
• and modest chastity without any faults and who stays in the wealthy mansion (13).
• (That mansion) is in the old village which strikes terror into the hearts of enemies and which has special strong guards so that it is difficult to enter (12).
• The lights which are close to each other and burn brightly and which have been lit in the walls of fortification which seem to touch the sky and on which long flags are always fluttering; those lights resemble the stars in the sky (9-10).

வலவ(8)! (நம் தலைவி தோழியை நோக்கி), சிறுபுன் மாலையும் உள்ளார் அவர் எனக்(6) (கூறிப்) புலந்து உறையும் எவ்வம் நீங்கி(7), மூதூரில்(12) அரிவையைக் காண்குவம்(15); உவக்காண்(8) தேர்(16) கடவுக(8).
