TRANSLATION
- Chief of the mountain which touches the sky! (13)

all alone in the cool and dark woods
without thinking of your loneliness (7-8)
- (In that wood) at midnight, the group of bears
which have curved backs and a gait of short paces (1)
- remove the high tops of the ant-hills
which are constructed with mud by the termites
and are red in colour (2),
- and surround them being partial to the termites in them (3-4)
- (At that time) the fearless male tiger kills an elephant
of shining and raised tusks to appease the hunger
of its female which recently gave birth to cubs
and is exceedingly desirous of food, and roars (5-6).
- My friend will not survive if a day passes
without your coming here (9).
- Just like that, you too are eager to embrace the shoulders
of my friend, daily (10).
- Noble and wise people will not wish for pleasures
with blame attached to them, though they may be extremely eager
to enjoy them (11-2).
- (Therefore) what harm is there if you marry the talaivi?
(If you come forward with proposals of marriage)
my relations who are not aware of the secret love
through which you were united due to your longing (காமம்)
which is very difficult to get, (15)
- in the slopes of the mountain where the pepper creeper spreads
and the herd of stags make a sound in a low pitch, (14)
- will celebrate the wedding in the traditional way
handed down from very ancient times (16)
- We will be glad to witness like utter strangers
the celebration of your marriage with her
to the satisfaction of our eyes, and we shall also see
the subjugation of the body of this lady born out of new bashfulness
at the time of wedding (17-9)
