• Our talaivi of incomparable beauty who can give all that is good (3)
• who has eyes dyed with collyrium and looking as beautiful as a soft flowers of many petals, (1)
• words as sweet and pleasing to the ear as the music produced by the strings of (2)

• In that place, there are woods which extend to a great length and which have tall trees, (5)
• where the herd of male elephants that plough the chests of enemies with their tusks, gather together (4).
• In the extensive place bamboos grow fertile and the squirrels, both male and female, with love each other, play on them (6).
• As the white tips of arrows which are soaked in fat and discharged with speed, hit many people to die (7)
• (In the desert) the mounds of stones on which dried leaves are spread and covered with, contain countless people (8)
• Though the people who pass in that desert have nothing to be plundered (11)
• usually the warriors would catch hold of their bodies (11)
• and take away their lives out of them (12)
• But, as they return sparing the lives away their lives out of them (12)
• But, as they return sparing the lives of way-farers, who happen to travel that way without knowing this, (12)
• the virtueless king (அறன் இல் வேந்தன்) extracts as fine (தண்டம்) from his warriors the big tusks of male elephant together with the skins of tigers having stripes on them (13).

நலம் நல்கு ஒருத்தி இருந்த ஊர்(3) அறன் இல்வேந்தன் ஆளும் (14) குன்றம் பலவிலங்கின(15). சோலையையுடைய(5) நனத்தலையில்(6) வீழ்ந்தோரதூ(7) பதுக்கைகள் பொருந்திய(8) சுரம் கெழுகலை கோட்பாற் பட்டென(9) வழுங்குநர் மடிந்த அத்தம்(10) உயிர் செகா அர் விட்டு அகல் தப்பற்கு(12) மருப்பொடு வரி அதள் இறுக்கும்(13) அறன் இல் வேந்தன் ஆளும்(14) குன்றம்(15).
