• (Talaiva)! Every time the talaivi hears the news of your taking her along with you she brings back to her mind many incidents that took place previously, (1)
• in her loving heart, and tries to relieves me (3)
• of my sorrow in my heart (2)
• by bearing which, I have become weak (3).
• She will cross the desert of the vaṭukar who have dogs of great anger and who, though uneducated, swear solemn oaths where their formidable battle-fronts displaying strong manliness are situated (12).
• There the way-farers who are new to that place (6)
• rejoice on seeing the dried flesh of the stag (5)
• which has been left abandoned on the spacious rock of black stones (4)
• by the big tiger eating to its heart's content the flesh of the stag (5)
• They mix it with the seed of the bamboos which thrive and cook it pouring into it curd which was got from the shepherd's dwellings (8)
• They eat the food of very white rice adding the fat which was melter (9)
• using the broad leaves of the teak tree with trunks having dots, as plates (10).
• In the little hamlet situated in the hills (18)
• the small boys who have shabby hairs (17)
• remove the flowers of mahua tree of beautiful leaves (இருப்பைமரம்) with cut-out openings and white holes, (16)
• and feed the patient bullock of great bodily strength (15)
• which can carry heavy loads and which is all alone having undergone sufferings (12-3)
• and which slipped, fell down and became very lame in the difficult ascent of the single ghat (துறை) in the rivulet (14)
• where one has to fear the danger of land-slips (13)
• when the banks are eroded by water, (13)
• driving away the indian elk (மரை- a kind of deer) (18)
• In the little hamlets of the forest where the fragrant flowers having fresh honey, drop on the big rocks (20)
• in the early morning (19)
• and therefore can be compared to a house where wedding is celebrated (21)
• my friend too who has cool tresses whose ends are of uniform length, (22)
• will keep pleasant company with you in the evening, and come along with you (22).
