• The chief of the village which has fields from which prawns which have drunk the water in which the drinking-bowls resembling skull in shape have been washed and, getting intoxicated, leap at the receptacle for grain like a bow from which the chord has been snapped in twain (1-3),
• and enclosed gardens abundant in river portia (காஞ்சிமரம்) trees adjoining the fields (8)!
• In the fields the long creeper of rattan which has small thorns like the edges of a fill entangles like a hook the big leaf of water-lily (ஆமம்பற்பூ) which has plently of water; and the slow-moving north wind lifts its intermittently (3-6).
• That leaf resembles the bellows in the blacksmith's forge that is blown with force, alternating between enlarging and shrinking (6-7)
• Even among group of harlots who wear bright bangles, you choise one young girl, having desired her and had marriage with her (9-10)
• That is on the lips of all and has become the public scandal of great noise (18)
• like the uproar that was produced when elephants were carried away as spoils of war (17)
• on the day when the victor who won in a fair sword-fight without treachery, (16)
• when both the great king (cēran and pāṇtiyar) lost their lives after a fight in the battle-field of paruvūr (பருவூர்) which has fields in which white paddy grows abundantly, (14-5)
• and whichh belongs to coḻar who are victorious in battles and have superior elephants, who is the father of aḵṭai (12-13)
• who has māmai complexion from which beauty shines forth, and things close to each other, and anklets made of reddish gold (11-12)

ஊர(8)! நீ(9) ஓர் குறுமகள் கொண்டனை என்ப(10); அது(10) சோழர்(13) பருவூர்ப்பறந்தலை(14) இருபெருவேந்தரும் பொருது கலிந்து ஒழிய(15), வானமர்க் கடந்த ஞான்றைக்(16), களிறு கவர் கம்பலை போல(17) அலராகின்று(18).
