TRANSLATION
- (Charioteer!) In the darkness at dead of night (3)
- the white flowers of leather berried birdweed (முசுண்டை-முசுட்டை) which has leaves heaping at the end (2)
- and which grows luxuriantly (1)
- in the adjoining spaces in great quantity near the peak where honey-combs
are built (by bees), (1)
- blossom like the stars in the sky (3)
- The shepherd who has on his back a mat of palmyra leaves
and who has collected the young kids of sheep has adorned himself with a chaplet
from which water is dripping, on which bees hum swarming (6)
- and which is made by him in combination with the cool and fragrant arabian jasmine (முல்லைப்பூ,)
with white species of gloriosa superba (தோன்றிப்பூ) flowers, (5)
- warms his palms in the firebrand which is soft and makes a long whistling sound
to scare away the small foxes in the thick darkness (8).
- That sound combines with the sound of the big black horn (11)
- which the people who keep
guard over the ripe millet farm (10) (தினைப்புனம்)
- make to drive away the big herd of wild pigs (9)
- of small eyes, anticipating the time of their coming into the fields, (10),
- and sounds simultaneously (11),
- in the region consisting of hard soil of jungle tracts (12)
- The dwelling place of the talaivi who wears flawless ornaments and has black, luxuriant tresses (14),
- exceedingly gentle nature, affection (13)
- born of desire (12)
- for a thing one wishes to have, is situated inside that country, (12)
