TRANSLATION
- In this enjoyable season when the big earth looks beautiful
having wonderful scenery (4-5)
- because the clouds which thunder like the war drum
(முரசு)
having drawn the water in the ocean (2)
- and exhibiting a fearful rainbow
which is bending appears on the mountain (1)
- descends and pours down rain (3)
- so that all the directions are made invisible (4),
- having ascended up (3)
- in the clock-wise manner
and surrounding the earth (3)
- the lady with a bright forehead
is staying in the little village (10)
- adjoining the forest in which there are
formidable battle-fronts (9)
- where the fragrant flowers of arabian jasmine
(முல்லைப்பூ)
that blossom at day-break drop (8)
- so as to cover the back of (7)
- the boar of small eyes that resemble fire (6)
- which sleeps in the small bush
that grows in the minute sand.
We are staying in the war-camp of the king (17)
- who is wearing garland (17)
- and orders again and again his army (16)
- to fight with increasing anger (15)
- though the enemy offers the strong fortress
of waving flags and which is surrounded by fields (14)
- where the labourers who drink liquor (13)
- carry to every threshing-floor (13)
- the big heaps of sheaves

- by tying securely many flowers resembling fire,
