• In the broad area (4)
• where emblic myrobalan trees (நெல்லி மரம்) grow (7),
• the mounds of stones are high and trees have lost their beauty by shedding all their leaves (4)
• because the rains failed (3),
• even though the Indian skylark which has dots and lines, sings for water, without showing any compassion for it (2).
• The warriors of great sense of modesty (8)
• won the righteous battle and laid down their lives (8)
• marching forward quickly at night (7),
• with those people who went to rescue cows (6)
• and who have arrows with teeth-like blades at their ends sharpened by filing, and look at objects aimed at by slightly closing their eyes, (6)
• As a memorial to them in every path stones with shining states (10)
• have been set up with their names and valourour deeds incribed on them and adorned with peacock's feathers (9-10)
• They resemble the enemy's battle-front where the lance is fixed straight and the shield is placed slantingly on them (11).
• In that desolate region dead people are buried under heaps of stones and leaves are spread over them to cover them (14).
• They appear like the rows of black shields which are tied with ropes (13)
• inspected by kings who want to conquer countries where foreign languages are spoken (12).
• In that region all the shining pebbles glitter like glowworms lying on the ground (115-6)
• along with the mirage which has no form and which is considered to be chariots of devils (பேய்க்தேர்) which do not ride on them (பேய்கள்) (15)
• People say that the path in which our talaivar stays giving up the pleasure he could derive from us by parting from us will be like that (17-8).

தோழி(1)! நம்(17) நலம் துறந்து உறைநர் சென்ற ஆறு(18) பறந்தலையில்(14) ஊராத்தேரொடு(15) பரல் இமைக்கும் என்ப(17); யான் எவன் செய்கோ(1)? எழிலி நீங்கலின்(3) மரம் புல்லென்ற நனந்தலை(4) நீளிடை எல்லி மண்டிக்(7) கடந்த மறவர்(8) பெயரும் பீடும் எழுதிய(9) பீலிசூட்டிய நடுகல்(10) வேல் ஊன்று பலகை வேற்று முனை கடுக்கும்(11) தே எம்(12); தேஎம் தருமார் மன்னர்(12) தோல் நிரைகண்டன்ன(13) பதுக்கைப்பறந்தலை(14).
