• Those superior people who have boys with faultless beauty who are liked even by their enemies will become renewed with fame in this world and after death attain the other world without any fault, (1-4)
• That is a proverb that is current on the lips of many people. We saw that the proverb was a true statement (5-6)
• Our talaivaṉ who had on his chest rows of garlands crossed this street yesterday with new adornments with the intention of marrying one woman (7-9)
• When the bells tied round the neck of the horse of excellent action made its sound, the boy who has eyes resembling flowers, (heard it) and crossed the main gate with the desire of seeing his father and ran with tottering steps many times (10-12).
• On seeing him (12)
• he said, `Charioteer! Stop the tall chariot' and got down from it and without much delay (12-3)
• embraced him so that his red lips which were like coral were pressed into his chest (14-5)
• Afterwards talaivaṉ said, `Chief! get now into the house' and sent him away (15-6).
• The boy would not agree to that, and wept (16)
• Talaivaṉ himself entered into the house with the son saying, `He is a great lord of wealth (நிதிக்கிழவன்: kupēraṉ) too' (16-8)
• I became abashed because I was responsible for having it done, went with a stick to beat him and rebuked him, saying 'This cruel chap reproved him sharply and made him get confused' (18-21).
• Talaivaṉ, taking the boy, gave up his intended marriage (26)
• with the harlot, as the old glow of kind feeling which he showed towards us on that day when we were playing with molucca beans (கழங்கு) in the company our mates (24-5)
• also pricked his conscience and did not leave our house though the sweet sound of the eye of muḻavu producing music, resembled like inviting him to their house (22-3)

தோழி(6)! மார்பன் ஒருத்தியொடு(7) வதுவை வேண்டி(8) இத்தெரு இறப்போன்(9) கடைகழிந்து(10) ஓடும்(11) புதல்வனை நோக்கித் தேர்(12) இழிந்தனன்(13); புல்லிக்(15) கொடுப்போற்கு ஒல்லான் கலுழ்தலின்(16) மகனொடு புகுதந்தோன்(18); யான்(18) நாணிக்(19) கோலொடு குறுத்தலைச்கொண்டு(21) அவர்மனை முழவின் சீர்(22) இசைப்பவும்(23) கண்ணோட்டமும் நலிய(25) மணன் அழுங்கினன் அல்லனோ(26) (ஆதலால்) பழமொழி(5) வாயே ஆடுதல் வாய்த்தனம்(6).
