TRANSLATION
- The secret union (6)
- with the talaivi which I had at a time that could not be known even by devils (பேய்கள்) (6),
- who has cool black eyes of black lids resembling two blue nelumbo (குவளைப்பூ) flowers of black stem,
which are coupled together, (4-5)
- shoulders like bamboos, (3)
- breasts that have just made their appearance in the chest (3),
- lips resembling coral in which sparkling teeth are fixed (2)
- and which can be compared to the white stalk just above the root of the green bulrush that grows in water (1),
- was spread by the word of neighbours who indulge in scandal individually
and in groups like the sound of the drum of tumultuous noise (7)
- As it was perhaps difficult for us to carry on the secret union (8)
- the talaivi having māmai (மாமை) colour and eminent by her quality of modesty (மடம்) (16)
- resembles the portrait of a lady painted by gods (15) (கடவுள்)
- to beautify the expansive area of the adjoining hills which have bright streams,
of Kolli (கொல்லிமலை) (13-4)
- which belongs to poṟayaṉ (பொறையன் - ceṟaṉ) who has an army consisting of a large portion of elephants (13)
- and a lance that brings victory (12),
- lay on our chest yesterday embracing it to remove that trembling grief (11)
- like one who bathes immersing oneself in the swift and abundant floods of the big river,
Kāviri (காவிரி) which has deep whirls on its surface (9-10).
