• Our talaivar went into a distant country (3)
• because he thought that they who met with death in helping others with their money were definitely more fortunate than those who died because the god of death (கூற்றம் -yaman) snatched away their lives (1-2)
• and because he wanted to crown his enthusiam with success (3)
• Do not get yourself immersed in sorrow by counting the number of days from the time of his departure which are marked on the high wall (4-5)

• Though our talaivar will get vēṇkaṭam abundantly famous on account of festivals (13)
• which belongs to pulli of great munificence, the chief of Kaḷavar who adorn their legs which know not retreat, with anklet (11),
• who subdued the country of maḻavar (12)
• and who celebrated his morning assembly of state with the paddy sold in exchange for liquor and by selling the white tusks of superior elephants (9),
• in company with many followers who have arrows that are discharged press hard the strong chests of enemies by fixing them on the strong bows having beautiful lines and beautiful bands, strong strings and elegant ends (7),
• whose enthusiasm never flags and who make a loud noise like thunder; (6)
• he will not stay there for long, (14)
• forgetful of lying on the chest which is adorned with jewels of fine workmanship (18)
• and which is famous by the beautiful breasts which have bright lustre, (17)
• of yours who can be compared to the great city of potiṉi rich in gold (16),
• which is very old and belongs to āvi, the great, a petty chieftain who has strong macular shoulders resembling musical drum (14-5)

The word Kaḷavar is taken by some scholars to be a corruption of Kalabhras who overran the pāntiya country)
