TRANSLATION
- The mother will get angry without any use (12)
- even if she sees the talaivi playing
with her mates wearing garlands,
building toy houses in the shore having sand-dunes
heaped by the northern wind (9-10)
- saying, `your brightness will emaciate! (11)
- If mother sees the marks made by the bangles (12)
- she who knows no consideration of virtue (15),
- will place our talaivai under more severe guard (15)
- than the wealth that was paid by the enemies' countries (14)
- and which was kept guarded
at Kuṭantai (குடந்தை-குடவாயில்)
by the victorious Cōḻar (13)
- who had a victorious lance (12).

the bright bangles of ours (7)
- who can be compared to Toṇti
belonging to Poṟayaṉ of strong
and well built chariots (7);
- where the young girl serves (6)
- her father who had been engaged
in the business of catching fish (3)
