• The long forest of severe heat has dwelling place on the sides of hills (9)
• The female of the frugivorous bat (flying fox) which has small, soft wings and red legs (1)
• crosses the expansive sky by leaping flights (2),
• comes during the heat of the bright sunshine and does not get the fruits (3).
• It remembers those days when formerly it used to get fruits and the abundance of those days and suffers (4)
• and languishes to enter into the trees as in former times (5).
• The long and tender topped aerial roots of iṟṟi (இற்றி) tree which has ugly-looking branches and short trunk touches the round boulders which have black, rough and uneven surfaces and, when the wind blows, resembles the elephant having a big trunk standing to its full height, and move to and fro. (5-8)
• (In that forest) when we are all alone (10),
• did the beautiful and small forehead of the talaivi who weeps without stopping into midnight and day time (18-9)

• part its colour and change into the colour of the flowers of small sponge gourd (பீர்க்கு) creeper, losing the luxuriant superior beauty made by her mates with great discerning care and which can be compared to the moon with many rays spreading cool light?
