Paḻayaṉ is the commander of Cōḻaṉ's forces. Kaṇayaṉ, the commander of Ceraṉ's forces. Kaḻumalam should not confused with Cīkāḻi in Cōḻanāṭu. This is in Cēranaṭu. "குடடுவன் கழுமலத்தன்ன" (அகம்:270-9) This place is mentioned in paḻamoḻi also in stanza 62. Paḻayaṉ is mentioned in Naṟṟiṇai, 10 : 5-8, akam, 186 : 14-16, 326 : 8-12)
