- and beautiful outer corners
of cool eyes which resemble the red back side
of the fragrant bud of large flowered jasmine
(பித்திகம்)
which grow luxuriantly and is difficult to be plucked
on account of its abundance, having received copious
supply of water due to heavy downpour of rain,
and which puts forth flowers in the rainy season, (1-3)
- The talaivaṉ of the mountain which touches the sky,
which is surrounded by hills on its sides
and which can be seen from at a distance
because of its height, came with proposals of marriage (12-14).
- On seeing his coming I rejoiced.
Many people feel happy
- at the pleasant daybreak (10)
- after a long spell of very hot summer,
when even the moisture disappears (6);
- [and when] the plough remains idle to make the country suffer
from scarcity (5),
- the clouds pour heavily
so that it helps empty extensive and scorched tanks
to be filled, which have embankments
as high as hills, where birds did not stay previously
as there was no water (7-10)
- It is like the rejoicings
of all those people poured into me (11-12)
