Translation
- The swift current of the forest river
which has high banks has subsided
(1)
- In the broad ghat
(துறை)
of mixed sand the bed has become sandy
(2)
- The sand dunes on which the green pollen
of river portia
(காஞ்சி)
tree is beautifully spread,
and flowers have dropped in each
and every garden where there are deep
and cool ponds, have new and excessive fragrance
like the house where wedding is taking place
(3-5).
- The black cuckoo
(குயில்)
which has the colour of sapphire
drills through the buds of mango-tree,
having assumed impartiality
by sound produced by its tongue,
cry one after another
(the female and male doing it by turns)
as if they are giving some advice every day
(6-8).
- The swarm of bees settled
on the common caung (கோங்கு)
tree having branches full of flowers
and cause the minute pollen
fall on the flowers of red-flowerd silk cotton tree( )
(9-10)
- resemble the small casket made of coral
into which the minute particles of gold
are put and which is sold by hawkers
(10-11)
- Young girl

- This is the spring season
which even people who will not care
for the sorrow which they get as a result of separation,
could ill afford to part
from their lovers
(12)
- Telling often that this season was mentioned
definitely as the time when the talaivaṉ
would return you need not give room
to sorrow with a mind destesting him
as he has not kept his word
and do not suffer when your paining eyes
coated with collyrium shed tears profusely
(13-16)
- The one who crossed the forest
which has streams flowing from mountain tops
and which produce a sound like that of the drum
of Titiyaṉ
(திதியன்)
and who has a golden chariot
who is the chieftain of Potiyil
(பொதியில்)
and who has a big hand holding a bow
with which he won battles of his enemies
who came to fight with him,
in open battle
(18-22),
- will return quickly speaking soft and sweet words,
such as "young girl! Let my life
(which gave you distress) suffer!
