Translation
- If (our talaivar) had taken us
also with him
(7)
- and travelled in the forest
which is devoid of all its fertility
and the tank has become dry and full of dust
(6-7)
- and where the sun of dazzling brightness
slowly moving in the sky has become red
like fire and its heat is shining brightly
(1-2),
- where the red flowered silk cotton () trees
have blossomed without any the bud,
dropping all leaves

- appears beautiful like the long row of lamps

- which are lit by groups of women with great uproar
and hilarity, having gathered together

- he too would have enjoyed quickly
the tight embrace out of love,
which the arms are very eager for
and which is like one body entering into another,
in the sand dune which has low big branches
with abundant bunches of flowers

- in the forest river which has much sand
resembling an upper garment that has been expanded
and spread out

- My eyes too which are without any fault
might have slept without weeping daily

- when they would not shed tears without stopping,
like the bright flowers from which water flows
like the small sluice through which water flows
and fills up a tank which has become completely dry

The talaimakaḷ replied to the companion
who could not bear the change that came over her
when the talaimakaḷ could not bear the separation
for the purpose of acquiring wealth by the talaimakaṉ,
"I can bear it."
