TRANSLATION
- The lord of the maritime tract of soft land
of the shore where birds are staying for long
in the black, big and firm branches of the mast wood tree
(புன்னை)
which has a curved, old trunk
and which has put forth soft-buds
resembling in appearance stars in the sky
(2-4),
- by receiving the particles of water
of the rising waves in the big expanse
of the sea!

to make her Collirium-coated eyes
resembling white indian water-lily
(நெய்தல்)
flowers to shed tears out of suffering

- you are taking upon yourself
a great and difficult task
