• Lines (1-7) The beginning of the rainy season (8-13)
• The talaivaṉ returns in his chariot having securely tied the clappers of bells (14-7)
• The return of talaivaṉ remembering the lady's beauty.

Translation

• Lady wearing choice bangles ! (17)
• The cloud which combines in itself lightning and thunder and others things has scattered drops of water that fall hastily and has transformed the beautiful forest to have the appearance of rainy season (6-7)
• when the arabian jasmine (முல்லை) puts forth sharp buds, clearing nut tree (தேற்றாமரம்), and the indian laburnum of green trunk loosen the tightness of their petals and blossom (1-2);
• the stags which have big and black horns resembling twisted iron rods, frisk in all the low-lying places (3-4)
• in the extensive forest region, which gives up completely its grief of having become dry (during summer) (5).
• The ruler of the land which has small hillocks appears yonder in his chariot of glorious make, having tied the clapper of the bells in it from producing sound (12-13)
• being afraid of frightening the bees which hum like the guts of yāḻ, and eat pollen, (9&11)
• and which live in the blossomed forest with their females (10),
• as the bridle of the horses which have their manes trimmed and look beautiful by the curved hair-plume adorning their heads (8),
• which speed fast as they are loosened, (8-9),
• thinking of your glorious beauty which is as fragrant as the blossomed flowers from buds of malabar glory lily which grow densely in the high and big celebrated with great tumult ! (14)

The companion spoke convincingly to the talaimakaḷ pointing to the season.
